As we continue to expand our Americas region presence, we are seeking to hire a safety oriented Quality Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Team.
Job Description: The Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in driving the company's success by providing insightful analysis, strategic/tactical recommendations, safety and quality guidance related to our strapping systems business. This position requires a strong safety focus, mechanical aptitude, and four year degree in polymer, chemical, mechanical, or general engineering.
Job Requirements:
Manage External and Internal Production Defects:
Manage salesforce workflow for quality cases.
Process cases and manage investigations.
Document and track product returns and hold quantities.
Communicate incoming complaints to production team.
Visit customer locations as needed for complaint resolution.
Manage RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) Process:
Document all internal and external defects and create corrective action plan for each event.
Develop verification plans and subsequent training plans.
Develop and Trend Quality Metrics:
Record and analyze quality metrics.
Review existing data and develop new metrics critical to quality.
Develop quality reports as needed.
Run monthly quality meetings to provide updates and answer questions for sales and senior leadership.
Develop Quality Training:
Determine required training and qualifications.
Develop testing qualification matrix.
Create training modules, flashes, guides, and review plans.
Manage QMS:
Single point accountable for QMS
Control quality manuals, policies, and procedures.
Maintain/develop ISO documentation as required.
Complete internal ISO auditing as required.
Oversee production quality and maintain quality records:
Perform regular quality audits.
Manage testing equipment calibration and service requirements.
Recommend process/standard adjustments to prevent defects.
Assume responsibility as process engineer and/or lead to guide crew when leadership is not present.
Aid in process troubleshooting as needed.
Perform any other reasonable tasks requested by manager or site leadership.
Qualifications:
Required:
Strong safety focus
4-year degree in either polymer, chemical, mechanical, or general engineering
Experience in plastics extrusion, strapping experience preferred.
Strong computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Windows applications.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Able to read and write in English.
Willing to obtain Lean Six Sigma certifications.
Ability to keep neat and organized records and files with attention to detail.
Good problem-solving skills.
Able to perform basic physical tasks such as lifting 50lbs.
Willing to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred:
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard
Lean Six Sigma Green, Black, or MBB Certification
Bilingual; Spanish and English
Emphasis on personal and professional growth, keeps knowledge and skills current.
Familiar with SharePoint software
Familiar with Salesforce software
Knowledge of capability analysis and setting specifications
Knowledge of improvement methodologies including DMAIC
Knowledge of conducting gauge R&R studies
