Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead our process engineering team in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, oversee critical process development efforts, and support 24/7 operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, and the ability to analyze and optimize complex manufacturing processes using statistical tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the process engineering team to meet operational and strategic goals.
  • Develop, document, and optimize plastic manufacturing processes.
  • Provide engineering support across a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including off-shift guidance as needed.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven methods to identify root causes, monitor trends, and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality and Maintenance resolve production issues.
  • Conduct time studies, cycle time analysis, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a high-performance technical team.
  • Support the implementation and validation of new equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Direct leadership experience managing process engineers or technical staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and provide support for a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and data analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in improving process capability, reducing scrap, and increasing throughput.
  • Experience with process documentation, failure mode analysis (FMEA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Vendor coordination for new equipment, tooling, and materials sourcing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in process engineering within the plastics industry.
  • Experience in plastic processing techniques such as injection molding, extrusion, or thermoforming.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and engineering initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English – strongly preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, automotive, or food packaging.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems such as SAP or AS400.
  • Experience with automation and smart manufacturing technologies.
